There are times in life when it feels like we are on a slippery slope, or even sinking ground. Sometimes it feels like we are caught in quick sand. With every move we make - we seem to be pulled deeper into our mess or problems.
We do not have to sink any lower. Nor do we have to stay in the mess. There is a way out. There is no problem too big for our God. David shares this amazing testimony in Psalm 40:2 - -
He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire;
He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.
Call on the Lord, and He will rescue you from the sinking ground. The Lord will give you a firm foundation to stand on, and to build your life. The Lord brings stability and balance into our lives.
In Matthew 7, Jesus contrasts a person who built their house on a rock and another who built on sand. The storms swept away the house on the sand, but the one whose foundation was on the rock, that house survived. Then Jesus said that obeying His Word is equivalent to building a house on a rock. The more closely we follow God's Word, the stronger the foundation of our life becomes.
The words of the hymn - "The Solid Rock" are a powerful truth - -
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand,
Your life may have been on a downward spiral. That can all change today. There is a new beginning awaiting you. Call on the Lord Jesus Christ.
